Small shop, doesn't have much variety like other Italian bakeries, mostly cookies/cakes. cheaper prices compared to other places, Very friendly and attentive worker!!
Best seeded semolina and fresh breads. This place has been around forever. Although they have new owners, they kept the same recipe.
Carmen's is top tier when it comes to a local bakery. The people there are nice and their hot fresh bread in the morning always delivers! The staff is friendly and I go there so much I don't even have to ask anymore lol. I will continue to go here as long as they're open!
Just moved to Union and I just can't get enough of Carmen's bakery! The fresh Italian bread in the morning is to die for. Every family or friend that has stayed over has gotten a chance to try it out and everyone has always had the same reaction. Service is great and the workers are all super nice. I can't wait to try all of their Italian pastry's which I heard were phenomenal as well. I can't wait! Recommend 10/10!!
Great to see they're back, after a short stint as Aurelio's. Same terrific pizza bread, integral to a proper Italian hot dog. Great value for all their products.
This old-school Italian neighborhood bakery has been here for eighty years. It is right off the Garden State Parkway North, exit 139A, two blocks up from the exit. Park out front, or on residential streets around the corner. Get fresh daily baked baguettes, French boules, Italian breads and rolls, and whole wheat loaves. Especially known for their hamburger and hot dog rolls, or "longs" as they are called, sausage and pepperoni breads, and ring-shaped pizza breads. Also, butter croissants, sfogliatelle, and Italian cookies. Also cheesecakes, cannolis, tarts and other pastries when the baker is so inclined. They also sell fresh pizza dough. The people in the shop are kindly, and prices are cheap. Walking in here is like a time warp which takes me back to my childhood. My aunt and uncle lived a block up from this place, and one of my earliest food memories as a kid was summer cookouts in their backyard. My uncle made great Newark-style deep-fried Italian hot dogs w/peppers & onions on these rolls.
